OPT - Optional Practical Training
I filed my opt case on July 2nd and received a receipt on July 7th. I requested my opt to be started on September 1st. I have checked on previous cases and seen that it would take average 2 months to get approvals (if there isnt' any problems along the way).

Some cases are processed faster than others. Now I am a little nervous, since there is a possibility that my opt card would not arrive on time for me to start working on Sep 2nd. I wonder if anyone knows what could possibly slower the process of one than others? Would people with more I20s have longer waiting time?! I have 7 I20s due to changing majors and transferring schools, however, only one I20s has cpt requests.

And I kinda assume that the processing time for June and July might be a bit shorter since most people are likely to file their cases in April and May (graduation months). Do anyone know if that is true or not?! Any advice? My Service Center is Vermont.

The processing time listed on the website is 3 months meaning 90 days. There is no fixed pattern or trend as to which applications get processed quicker but you can request an expedite processing if u r eligible for it.

Number of I20s is irrelevant to the processing times. Check the USCIS site for expedite criteria.
